Seat maintains its commitment to natural gas vehicles

January 16, 2015. Just over a year, in December 2013, Seat signed an agreement with Gas Natural Fenosa to develop vehicles propelled by compressed natural gas (CNG).

Today, this young project has already obtained the first results: in 2014, the brand produced a total of 3.926 vehicles to CNG, 1.914 Mii models, 1.612 units of Leon 5P and since mid-May, 400 cars of Leon ST. Of these, Seat sold 3.493 in Europe, but in Spain only came to market 93 (22 Mii and 71 Leon 5P).

Besides Seat, Skoda – another brand of Volkswagen group- also manufactures an Octavia model powered by natural gas. But there are others, such as Fiat and Mercedes-Benz, which also opt for this technology. Fiat produces the Punto model and Mercedes does the same with vehicles of Class B and E.

On the other hand, there are currently 38 CNG filling stations in Spain (plus another five open soon), of which 22 are operated by Gas Natural Fenosa.
